LA Animal Services Invites You to Join Us at The Los Angeles Chargers Petpalooza Adoption Event - Adoption Fees Waived for Dogs & Cats!
12/05/2024
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5, 2024 – Across the country, pets—particularly large dogs—are taking up to twice as long to find adoptive homes compared to pre-pandemic times. To encourage the community to adopt or foster, LA Animal Services will be partnering with the Los Angeles Chargers for the Petpalooza adoption event happening on Saturday, December 7 from 9am to 4pm at the Chesterfield Square/South LA shelter. Adoption fees will be waived for dogs and cats (adopted at the event and at any of our six City shelters December 7 and 8) thanks to a generous grant from Petco Love.
Throughout the day, the team from Dogs Playing for Life will be onsite to run playgroups that will showcase the personalities of our adoptable dogs, and the Michelson Found Animals Foundation will be distributing free pet food to all attendees and will provide free dog tags, collars, and leashes while also registering microchips for pets adopted at the event.
You can view the more than 400 furry friends – including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and gerbils – available for adoption at our Chesterfield Square/South LA shelter by clicking here.
“Since 2020, LA Animal Services has worked closely with the LA Chargers, and we are grateful for their ongoing support to help the animals in our shelters find loving homes,” said Annette Ramirez, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services. “A special thank you to our partners, staff, volunteers, and the community who share in our lifesaving mission to make Los Angeles one of the most humane cities in the country.”
The Chargers Petpalooza event celebrates the culmination of the first joint initiative of the LAAS Strategic Support Collaborative that bolstered resources focused on improving shelter conditions, expanding support options at receiving, increasing visibility for adoptable pets, and establishing pathway planning for the animals in our most overcrowded City shelter.
With the support of our animal-loving community and the 324 New Hope animal welfare organizations, LA Animal Services has been able to place more than 25,000 animals into loving homes so far this year.
You can make a difference NOW in a shelter pet’s life, by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.
