The first-ever California Adopt-a-Pet Day, is taking place on Saturday, June 1. The statewide adoption day will feature more than 150 California animal welfare sites, including LA Animal Services, offering free adoptions to find homes for 2,024 shelter pets. The ASPCA will be providing funds to cover the cost of free adoptions at participating shelters.
The California Adopt-a-Pet day is made possible thanks to the California Animal Welfare Association (CalAnimals), the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA), and the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
Pets adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, licensed, and microchipped. Adopters also receive a Petco flyer with discounts to help make their pet adoption a success and a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, canine buddies adopted from LA Animal Services are also eligible for free dog training classes at the Paws for Life K9 Rescue People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA.
