CHIEF VETERINARIAN
Annual Salary Range: $102,019 - $126,762
DUTIES: The City of Los Angeles seeks a Chief Veterinarian who will bring excellent management and medical skills to the City’s new and expanded shelters. Veterinary Technician
Annual Salary Range: $43,242 - $53,724
DUTIES: A Veterinary Technician assists a Veterinarian in providing top quality care to animals in our new and expanded shelters. Duties include: performing routine and sub-professional duties in the medical or surgical treatment of animals in the care and custody of the Department, administering immunizations under the direction of a licensed Veterinarian, administering emergency medical treatment to injured animals, and related work. Two years of full-time paid experience in the care of animals, at least one year of which was in assisting a licensed veterinarian in the medical examination and treatment of animals, and a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certificate or an Animal Health Technician (AHT) certificate issued by the California Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine required.

Animal Control Officer
Annual Salary Range: $40,883 - $53,598
DUTIES: An Animal Control Officer enforces State and City ordinances dealing with the care, treatment licensing, and impounding of animals in an assigned area of the City; picks up sick, injured, stray, vicious or unwanted animals; makes humane investigations, conducts permit inspections, issues citations, and makes arrests; and keeps records and prepared reports which may be used as legal evidence. One year full-time paid experience performing animal care, maintenance or control on domestic or wild animals; or successful completion of 12 semester units or 18 quarter units in a recognized college or university in Animal Science, Animal Management, Administration of Justice, or related course work required.
